Shining Light on Death Workshop 2 at South West Yorkshire Partnership NHS Foundation Trust
The second of 3 workshops on Shining Light on Death, also held at South West Yorkshire Partnership NHS Foundation Trust, had 18 participants continuing their exploration of the subject. In small groups they read and explored the meaning in the words, thoughts and insights from an excerpt from ‘Gatanjali’ by the Bengali poet Rabindranath Tagore.
The group was led through a self-compassion visualisation with the thought that if self-compassion was developed when we are well, it would help us prepare for a peaceful death. This would also help us be compassionate with someone who was dying.
The groups then reflected on the importance of tidying up loose ends in their own lives and identifying their individual circles of support. The workshop ended with feedback and meditation in the Chapel with the lighting of a candle.
