News of the passing of Dr Peter Fenwick, Scientific & Medical Advisor to the Janki Foundation

Dr Peter Fenwick, a pillar of spiritual understanding and humane medicine, who supported the Janki Foundation from its inception as a scientific adviser, has passed on. His legacy is immense. As a psychiatrist, Peter gave solid scientific support to the case for bringing spirituality back into healthcare, and mental healthcare in particular. He set a strong personal example of the kindness and compassion that emerge and are sustained through meditative practices. Our condolences and best wishes go to his wife, Elizabeth, who was a consistent support to him throughout an illustrious career and who co-authored several of his books, including those describing near-death experiences that provide such clear evidence of the continuation of consciousness beyond the body.
Dr Fenwick gave me some interesting temporary computer work at Saint Thomas’s Hospital in his Clinical Neurophysiology Department. I was impressed that he never criticized anybody, and by his knowledge of mathematics, when I explained a complication which arose in one of the digital signal processing projects which I was doing for him.
This work which he gave me was a very lucky break, because it broke an extended period of unemployment, and it helped me to get into Saint Thomas’s Hospital’s (then new) IT Department, where I was lucky to survive the many re-organizations and modernizations over the years, and to reach retirement there.
As a Roman Catholic myself, I remember Dr Fenwick’s great energy, ability, humanitarian concerns, philosophical thinking, and philosophical courage about where he has now proceeded us, and remember him and his family in my prayers.
I admired Peter’s work, and found out about him in his podcast on YouTube. (In 2019). I was fascinated and eagerly awaited his new ones. I trust he is enjoying his new form of energy. Thank you for sharing your light!
