Symposium on Medical Leadership
Holland – 20 November 2015
I was invited to attend a medical leadership symposium at the Erasmus University in Rotterdam in November 2015. The event was to celebrate the professorial inauguration of Dr Carina Hilders whom I had met at a Still Point -Turning World Retreat at Oxford the year before.
It was a wonderful day with speakers from round the world discussing various approaches to leadership. Dr Sarah Eagger, Vice Chair of the Janki Foundation, spoke on the need and benefits of a spiritual approach to leadership in healthcare and discussed JF’s Values in Healthcare training programme.
In particular she highlighted the importance of health care organisations not only publicising their value statements but how important it was for those statements to be fully owned and actually integrated into working practices.
From the questions that followed her talk quite obviously struck a chord with the audience.
