SHINING LIGHT ON DEATH – THE SACRED JOURNEY WORKSHOP 1 – A Shared Experience

These workshops are being organised based on the feedback received from the one day event and subsequent seminar held on Shining Light on Death in 2018, and are for those involved in caring for the dying – healthcare workers, family or friends, or anyone interested.

The workshops will explore the sacred process of living and dying, and the process of spiritual transformation.  Is there a way we could engage consciously and share authentically in the last stages of life, for our loved ones and for ourselves?

Death is a continuum of life that engages us on all levels, physical, emotional and spiritual.  We will explore our understanding of the process of dying from a deeper perspective, and how we can bring our authentic selves to this sacred process.

Facilitators

Bridget Haley, Nurse & Caregiver, has been a nurse and long-time caregiver.  She began the Sacred Care Project in 2015 as an extension of her work with the dying and their families, and in response to the fear and unpreparedness that she witnessed when caring for them.  She feels that with the right guidance and support we can all be part of what is a natural holistic process in a helpful, healing and sacred way.

Suja Chandran, Senior Social Worker, works with vulnerable families and children with chronic and life limiting illness. As a social work educator, she has a continued interest in addressing the impact and burden of treatment within families. She is involved in projects and training to improve psychosocial care in hospitals. She delivers workshops in the community to integrate spirituality in death & dying.

Bhavna Patani, Co-ordinator & Secretary of the Janki Foundation since 2002, is an experienced trainer for the Values in Healthcare programme, an educational resource supporting the well-being of healthcare professionals, their teams and patients. She has coordinated many facilitator trainings in the UK and abroad, and also conducts self-development workshops and seminars. She has a particular interest in supporting those who are dying and/or having chronic illnesses as well as their families.
