Dr Sarah Eagger is the coordinating editor of Values in Healthcare: A spiritual Approach, a training programme concerned with the application of holistic principles for health care professionals in their education and training. As a practitioner of Raj Yoga meditation for over 40 years and a certified Mindful Self Compassion teacher, she is an advocate of a values-based approach to healthcare – one that embraces peace, love, positivity and compassion for the benefit of oneself and others.
Sarah is an executive committee member of both the World Psychiatric Association, Section on Religion, Spirituality and Psychiatry and the Spirituality Special Interest Group of the Royal College of Psychiatrists. In the past she has also chaired the Special Interest Group as well as the National Spirituality and Mental Health Forum and the British Holistic Medical Association.
She worked for 30 years in the National Health Service UK as a consultant psychiatrist and honorary senior clinical lecturer in the department of Psychological Medicine, Imperial College, London, and also worked in private practice for 15 years. She pioneered research on the first licensed treatment for Alzheimer’s disease at the Maudsley Hospital, London.
