Research
The hospital’s approach is bringing striking results. This is particularly noticeable in the Coronary Artery Disease Regression study which is being run by its cardiology unit in collaboration with the Defence Institute of Physiology and Allied Sciences in New Delhi.
For instance patients in this study have shown a dramatic improvement not only in objective health measures but also in their reported well-being, following lifestyle changes which include a lacto-vegetarian diet, daily exercise and regular meditation to reduce stress. Specific benefits include lower cholesterol levels, improved immune function as well as increased exercise tolerance. About 800 patients have now taken part in this study over the past four years. Further details have been posted on www.ghrc-abu.com and results are due to be published early next year.
